How is it shocking that an elderly man decides to stop doing a thing that he's been doing for decades?
Headline might as well be "Shareholders shocked at the prospect that someone is nearing the final chapter of their life and will eventually die".
The article states that he previously said he was going to keep going until he passed away, it he suddenly announced it at the end of the meeting without anyone except his close family knowing.
This reminds me of a story about the funeral of a woman who died in her late nineties.
One particular gentleman, without much reflection, tried to console the family with a "it was so unexpected".
Perhaps because his buddy Charlie still works until 98/99? :D
