I'm no sociologist, but it would not surprise me if when Hollywood dies, most of the USA gives out a great big "meh."
I don't think Hollywood will die exactly, it will just go the way of other antiquated media. It will stay frozen in time like radio, books, theatre etc. It won't grow, but it won't die.
