Anyone interested in getting a great overview of the late republic should read the Cicero trilogy by Robert Harris
Ha, I just read about the Bathhouses in Baiae yesterday in “Rubicon: triumph and tragedy of the Roman Empire”.
Sadly link seems broken :(
