People are injured wearing seatbelts in automobile accidents. People are injured by anesthesia during surgery. We require these things because for the greater population, the larger scope, they are well worth whatever small risks exist. We as a species / society have an issue looking at the bigger picture when the consequences affect us personally.
It's called the "common good". Hard to understand by someone as self-interested as yourself, it means that you do something, like take a vaccine, not because you would necessarily die from Covid-19, but because many older people might die from the infectious germs you are spreading around. By doing this for the common good, you help reach herd immunity, and help eradicate the disease. It's a simple concept, much like 'women and children first', a sacrifice that honorable men with character make. That you would whine and complain about a pinprick shows what little character you have, much like a little spoiled child.
I think OP sounds like a typical anti-vaxxer, but "forced with threat of losing job" seems accurate enough. It's not an option for the average person to lose their job and stop paying their mortgage stop feeding their family, etc. Especially if you were living in a place that had vaccine checks at doors to many places. Effectively, as a society we did "force" the vaccine. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but it's accurate enough.
See though, these are all options in America. If your apartment wants to enforce a no-pets policy and you own a dog, it's not true to say that society forced you to get rid of the dog. You can express your dissatisfaction by taking your business to a competitor that respects your values and/or work ethic.
Past a certain point, it really is your fault. You don't own the apartments, it's unfair to enforce your demands on someone else's property. Similarly, it's unfair (and unrealistic) to demand that other private enterprises ignore common sense to serve your harmful whims.
