I think this could be a welcome step towards growing much needed affordable and accessible organic materials for transplantation. If the organism doesn’t grow a nervous system, then it’s the same as lab-grown meat, and not a conscious being. But my question is why they think these organisms need to resemble humans? If you have that much control over genetics and stem cells that the organism lacks a nervous system, you can alter its shape so that it doesn’t appear to be human. I am opposed to using a human form because it is by extension making it okay to impose such use on humans, and that is already something that happens via human trafficking and other illegal or unethical acts.
