Yesh, I should have been clear it is from 2019 - just providing more history here. The US was already aware what Iran could militarily do in the Strait since 2019.
There is nothing insurance companies fear more than mines. Pirates can be fought. Kidnappers can be negotiated with. Not so mines. They sit there unseen for years then randomly destroy a ship without warning or mercy. No matter how many assurances are made, it will be years before that strait returns to normal pre-trump operations.
Or, you know, Iran could actually respect international law. They keep screaming that everyone is doing "illegal" actions, and yet they see no problem doing this. Is Iran really so poor that using brutal violence to try to extract taxes from neighboring countries, and as far away as Ukraine, is the only way to work?
Here is Ukraine's minister of foreign affairs explaining why Iran is not a neutral party even in the Ukraine war, referencing Iran's latest accusation:
"Iran’s threats are unjustified and groundless. The regime in Teheran is a direct accomplice to Russian aggression against Ukraine, fuelling Moscow’s criminal war with weapons that have killed Ukrainians since 2022.
Iran has no standing to pretend to be a victim, let alone justify its threats with absurd references to the UN Charter.
With its statements, Iran also tries to shift attention away from Russia’s terror against civilian shipping in the Black Sea, which is threatening global food security. But it will not succeed.
Russia’s attacks on freedom of navigation will be at the spotlight of today’s emergency UN Security Council meeting and we expect strong responses by the international community."
You talk about international law as if this whole war US and Israel started wasn't illegal to begin with. Also, I dont care about law, you're stupid if you believe Trump is what I'm saying.
Are you not ashamed to defend your adjudicated rapist and 34 times felon that started the most nonsensical war in modern history?
You guys got your ass kicked by Iran and you don’t have any cards, deal with it.
Why is a Norway tanker in the Hormuz strait? I thought they were exporting oil, not importing it.
They are probably using the Norwegian flag, that doesn't necessarily mean they are importing oil to Norway, only that the owner and crew use the flag.

Well they shouldn't have listened to Trump saying the street is open, but rather listen to those that closed it

In my experience with them, Trump voters have no shame.
We should bring honor and Shane back into our culture.
Oh look, it's the consequences of Trump's actions. Every president since the 1960s was smart enough not to step into this trap.
Noone with sense has ever accused Trump of being smart when it comes to geopolitics or war.
Or anything else tbf
