The article is still relevant. Given the population slow down, I wonder how that will impact the investment returns as the amount of investment dollars diminish. I suspect as it starts to happen, the market will slowly open up to foreign capital. I know that foreign investors can invest now but it's a small percentage. I bet it will start to get very easy to invest in the US markets as a foreign investor as US money dries up.

Title says “fueled “, which is categorically different from their first paragraph where they already concede ground by saying “propped up”.
Which is it? Fuel a bull market or prop up the market? Or something else?
The consensus view is passive flows create some valuation distortion at the margin, concentrated in mega-caps and net inclusions/exclusions.
However, “props up the market” as a whole-market thesis (i.e., prices would collapse without new passive inflows) isn’t well-supported empirically.
