They had three Sonic TV shows in the 90's alone, plus three more since, and four movies within the last decade, and that's just the Sonic franchise. Is he just now realizing that the people who watch it weren't all playing the games?
I would make a quip about game devs will soon be making games for people who don't play games, but I think that's been happening for a while.
tbh Sonic is a perfect case for this, he is almost like a bigger toy brand and movie character than a video game character
