"Noticeably different from the very first moment: the aluminium key offers a glimpse of what is to come. Even before the engine starts, a connection to the car is formed, transforming anticipation into something tangible."
But I'd much rather have a premium car from a manufacturer with premium car standards. Have you seen the panel gaps on Teslas? They're like fancy Ladas!
How are "constantly rearranging" instruments an essential?
Some designers don't get it.
Too much ego. Those are the one's who would have failed to finish a cathedral over several generations within the same style (re-read chapter 4 of "The Mythical Man-Month" to understand).
It's a distraction. And a pure driver's car avoids any distraction.
I see this in software too - designers have to constantly justify their own employment by redesigning things that work perfectly well and literally no one has ever complained about. But if you're on the payroll to design, you have to design.
The marketing page says it's mid-engined. Maybe it's one of these newer hybrids not designed for range for but performance boost especially a low RPMs where the gas engine last immediate torque.
Germany doubling down on combustion after doubling down several times. Don't worry guys all is good. Those guys have lost any touch to reality. Nothing will snap them back.
I think a few things.. (but I am not a policy expert)
1. Governments pulling back on EV transition leading to car companies pulling back from EVs as well. For example, some companies that had previously said "we've designed out last gas engine" now are designing new ones.
2. Turns out gas + EV can be even better than pure electric for a sports car (so I gather)
3. People who drives cars like this DGAF about emissions
Looks nice but the presentation of the website is terrible.Looks like they are try-harding.Not happy with the copy at all.But the lines of of the car are nice to see. Please Porsche keep it together.
Why not both? What makes EVs meaningful is when you get to the point of pushing green electricity to the grid and have the bulk of the utilitarian traffic consume it. Electrifying supercars for the sake of it has no measurable impact in the grand scheme of things.
Peak performance alone will not imbue something with a soul, and adding (or adding additional) computers frequently seems to overlap with something becoming more soulless.
An SSD is faster, but a hard drive ticking away is a language its own, and an amorphous white-by-default Tesla Plaid may be one of the fastest cars on any road, but odds are the only feeling it evokes is "This is faster than any reasonable person needs, and likely more than is safe for any standard American motorist to be able to just go out and buy"
Porsche. “Aluminum key”
Tesla roadster. “Drives upside down, flies, does flips, 0-60 in 0.81s”
Porsche. "You can buy me as promised in a timeframe i told you"
Tesla roadster. "Hold my key, i might actually get delivered in 2-5 years after waiting for 10"
"Noticeably different from the very first moment: the aluminium key offers a glimpse of what is to come. Even before the engine starts, a connection to the car is formed, transforming anticipation into something tangible."
I would fire the marketing team.
Is this a Jony Ive collab? Sure seems there are a lot of similarities to the Ferrari Luce.
Interesting. It kinda does have a tiny bit of semblance inside, but not as nearly refined.
Thing is Ive didn't design exterior tho, but getting all the flak for it. Meanwhile interior of Luce is first Ferrari that doesn't look like a joke.
Advertising the fact that the key is from some other metal is... weird.
Who gives a fuck? Never have i used a key and thought "wow, I wish the metal was different, that would noticeably change my experience".
People are still using metal keys to open and start cars?
I see a lot of Claudeisms/AI slop in the copy text on that page. Really disappointed from that page, agreed, fire the marketing team.
Yup.
Aren't we still waiting for the previous tesla roadster to be released?
Different target audience.
I'd rather have an aluminum key.
one of them is real product, the other just some promo skeleton made for promo, which they dont actually properly show
The Aluminium key is a bit silly.
But I'd much rather have a premium car from a manufacturer with premium car standards. Have you seen the panel gaps on Teslas? They're like fancy Ladas!

Well, they call it a pure "driver's car" but it's really too fussy to be that. A Miata or Elise/Exige would be what I'd put that label on.
I really liked the interior of this model. Glad it looks analog and not the stupid 100% displays you can get in a car today.
Huh, everything is digital apart from the needle arm of the rev counter?
I retract what I said. I watched a close shot of the dashboard, it's purely digital but the needle arm as you mention. What a pity.
Rooting for them but doesn’t look very Porsche to me.
Lightly related, here’s the design patent for the original Targa design:

wheels look like if apple inexplicably released a new CRT monitor and made a throwback ad for it https://files.catbox.moe/m6mi25.png
"Height-adjustable gear lever", lol.
Zero info about the engine on the page - or is it electric? The page doesn't really say.
For a sports car, that sort of info is kinda important?
In a video, a Porsche official said they haven't decided on the engine yet.
It’s mostly a marketing exercise and Germans are notoriously bad from an Anglo perspective.
From the opposite side Tesla’s presentation was way “yee-ahh” and tacky from the perspective of other publics
The marketing page says it's mid-engined. Maybe it's one of these newer hybrids not designed for range for but performance boost especially a low RPMs where the gas engine last immediate torque.
The car has four exhausts so I'd assume it's not electric.

Electric car, decent autonomy and light weight: choose two; at least for now.
Although Porsche have already branded electric cars 'Turbo', the bar meter implies forced induction
Apparently maximum boost on a GT2 is around 1.5 bar, so hitting close to 5 seems...ambitious
Perhaps they are there for the 'Rocket' edition.
Landing page design is really bad. For a bit, I was not sure if I had landed on a generic WordPress blog.
Wow, you're not kidding. This really feels like a hobby site from the early 2010s
It's a web site for a car. It has pictures of the said car. What's up with it, I don't get it.

Poor timing.

Please add spaces after periods. The presentation is terrible.
"Focus on what matters." :/ I guess they replaced their copywriter with AI.
At this point I'd save the money for a stick of DRAM you might need.
The car is beautiful except for that visible fan, it gives AC unit vibes.
How did they even manage this timing seriously.
Is this poor timing or coat tail riding?
LLMsplaining in every second paragraph…
ohh come on man you should "focus on what matters" (:
So is this an EV or an ICE car? The rev counter makes me think ICE?
Wondering as well. Neither the website, nor the youtube video [0] make it clear. It does have 4 exhaust pipes, however.

So does the Roadster :) they even both have center fans.
>what does the sports car of tomorrow really need?
1000HP of EV power, definitely not a V8

Most car enthusiasts are against EV sport cars.

> car enthusiasts
That's why they suck
