Recently bought my first ever MacBook and was kind of surprised there isn't a native way to do this. Wasn't really satisfied with the browsing speed / pricing / interface of current apps, so I made my own.
The app has a dynamic icon with dropdown menu, supports multiple devices at the same time, USB hubs, and shows live battery readings for devices that support this feature.
No ADB debugging or macFUSE required, plug-and-play after a 1 min setup. Currently supports macOS 26 and later
Pricing: copying photos and videos off the phone / devices counts as a read, so it's free with no limit. The first 1GB of writes TO your devices is free (total, shared across devices), buying a license makes writes unlimited.
EUR 14.99 lifetime, can be used on up to 3 Macs at the same time, can also unregister previously registered devices.
