I write stories disguised as science fiction. The space my characters move through looks cosmic. It isn’t. They navigate a map of emotion, cognition, and the micro-intimacies of a freely chosen life. Sometimes, when the science fiction writing backfires, it comes out as philosophy or politics and I try pretending this was intentional.
